The Beginning of the New Golden Age

When did T.V. stop sucking?

When I was growing up (before the internet was cool or useful) everyone watched T.V. but the shows weren't even close to as good as shows today. With the power of Netflix, you can go back and watch shows that came out 20 years ago but sadly most of them suck.

Sure at the time we loved them, who wouldn't love a show about dinosaurs who live a middle class life that is weirdly similar to Roseann's? (this was on prime time)

 "Not the Momma"

When I was in high school The New Golden Age of Television began with  one of the best dramas of all time, never mind the best television shows of all time. The Wire. HBO had two shows that really broke into television with hard hitting and captivating dramas; The Wire and Sopranos. These two shows had stories that dealt with real life dramas and showed a side of the human experience that was only seen before in academy awards level film.  HBO had the ability to have an hour long show that wasn't broken up by commercial breaks and wasn't censored by the FCC. Not to mention great writing!
